Lela Kropf
Lela (Byram) Kropf, 91, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson, KS. Lela was born on April 30, 1923, and lived on a farm near Sheldon, MO. She was one of 12 children, the sole survivor being her twin sister: Lila Carder of Chanute, KS.
She was married to Paul Kropf on March 2, 1943. She and Paul owned and operated the Kropf Oil Co. in Coldwater, KS, until his death in 1990, when they sold the business to Tony Uhl.
Lela lived her entire adult life in Coldwater, KS, until she moved to Mennonite Manor in South Hutchinson, KS in 2002.
Paul and Lela had two sons: Victor and his wife Terry Sue of Hutchinson, KS and Harold and his wife Debbie of Bartlesville, OK. She had 8 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Lela thoroughly enjoyed being around her many grandkids and great-grandkids, spending many hours interacting and observing the younger ones play, and teaching the older ones to cook and sew.
Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015, at the First Christian Church, 201 N. Central, in Coldwater, KS, with Andrew Evans presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
