Obituary

Lester Paul Fry, Jr., 79, passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Comanche County Hospital, Coldwater, KS. Born August 12, 1938, on a farm southwest of Wilmore, KS, he was the son of Lester Paul Fry, Sr. and Clarice E. (McMillin) Fry.

Lester was a lifetime resident of Wilmore, KS. He graduated from Wilmore High School in 1956 and received a bachelor's degree in agriculture and botany from Fort Hays College in Hays, KS. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963. On June 25, 1966, he married Norine E. Luther at Independence, MO. She survives.

Lester was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church in Wilmore, KS. Other memberships include: Wilmore Volunteer Fire Department; Masonic Lodge #295; Wilmore Lion's Club; and Coldwater Eagle Booster Club. He served as Wilmore City Clerk and City Councilman for 50 years and was Trustee and Caretaker for Powell Township Cemetery in Wilmore, KS. Lester was employed at Wilmore State Bank and was Comanche County Noxious Weed Director for many years.

He is survived by his wife: Norine Fry of Wilmore, KS; two sons: Jeff Fry (Angie) of Great Bend, KS, and children: Taylor and Baleigh; and Matt Fry (Michelle) of Salina, KS, and children: Peyton, Marley, Joey, and Jordan; two daughters: Lisa Girk (Logan) of Protection, KS, and children: Garrett, Gage, and Gentry; and Lori Hartnett (Evan) of Hutchinson, KS, and children: Delaney, Ryler, Berkley, and Paisley; five siblings: Martha Jo Mathews of Deerfield, IL, Carol Swaney of Chesterfield, MO, Barbara Delaney of Wilmore, KS, Doris Fry of S. Dakota, and John Fry of Coldwater, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings: Eloise Fleming and Bill Fry.

Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018, (Family Will Greet Friends From 5-7 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2018, at First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Juan Espinoza presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Wilmore Cemetery in Wilmore, KS.
