Lewis Harold Darr, Sr., 71, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born March 6, 1947, at Freedom, OK, he was the son of Otis Raymond Darr, Sr. and Retha Belle (French) Darr.
Lewis was a long-time resident of Coldwater, KS, moving there in 1972 from Freedom, OK. He attended Freedom Schools in Freedom, OK.
On May 15, 1966, he married Lana Whisennand at Keyes, OK. She survives.
Lewis worked as a meat cutter at Coly's Grocery Store in Boise City, OK and White's IGA in Coldwater, KS for many years, and worked at Filson Manufacturing in Protection, KS, prior to retiring in 2016. Lewis and Lana opened their home to numerous children as foster parents for many years. He enjoyed bowling, horse racing, and OU Sports, especially OU Football.
He is survived by his wife: Lana Darr of Coldwater, KS; one daughter: Leah Mae Grover and husband Ed of Ulysses, KS; one son: Lewie Darr and wife Brandy of Fort Smith, AR; four grandsons: Adam Darr and wife Alicia, Austin Figueroa, Alek Darr, and Fabian Grover; two great-grandchildren: Isla Darr and Grady Lewis Darr; one brother: Jimmy Darr of Freedom, OK; his mother-in-law: Leola Moore of Coldwater, KS; a foster son: Jose Garcia of Dodge City, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings: Arlo Darr, Neil Darr, Bill Darr, Juanita Beer, Coleta Province, Laveta Parker, Otis Darr, Jr., and Joyce Ann Darr.
Calling times are from 2-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 10, 2018 (Family Will Greet Friends from 5-7 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Freedom Christian Church, Freedom, OK, with Pastor Mark Kinkel presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Freedom Cemetery, Freedom, OK.
