Lola Bernice (Smith) Robbins
Lola Bernice (Smith) Robbins, Coldwater, died on September 3, 2012 in Topeka, KS at age 86. She was born in Wesley Hospital, Wichita, KS, on June 22, 1926, and was the youngest child of J. Frank and Agnes E. (Long) Smith. Lola graduated from Coldwater High School in 1944. On November 23, 1947, Lola married Carl Ephraim Robbins at the Smith home.
Upon high school graduation, Lola worked for three years as a bookkeeper at the KU Medical Center Business Office in Kansas City, KS. After her sons were in school, she worked in the Comanche County Treasurers and Appraisers Offices. Lola was a member of the former Prairie Vale Friends Church. She later became an active member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. In 2008, she was recognized by the Crown Hill Cemetery Board of Directors in Coldwater for more than 40 years of service.
Lola was preceded in death by her husband: Carl; her sisters: Edith Smith and Irene Farthing; and her brother: George Smith.
She is survived by her two sons: Gary Robbins (Donna) of Topeka, KS, and Galen Robbins (Amy) of Monkey Island, OK; four grandchildren: Allyson Shove, Jason Robbins, Sarah Erickson, and Laura Robbins; and five great-grandchildren: Jaxon Shove, Haden Wadley, John Wadley, Lydia Erickson, and Liam Erickson.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2012, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS. There will be a celebration of her life at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 8, 2012, at the Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS.
Burial will follow the service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
