Margaret Lucille Haas

Margaret Lucille Haas, 93, passed away Saturday, October 19, 2013, at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS. Born August 7, 1920 on a farm south of Coldwater, KS, the daughter of Anthony James "T.R." and Florence (Vulgamore) Hackney, she was a homemaker.
Lucille was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. She attended Avilla Country School and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1938. She received her teaching certificate from Dodge City Junior College and was a teacher at the Glendale and Tintop Country Schools.
On August 17, 1941, she married Leo George "Jim" Haas at her parents' home south of Coldwater, KS. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1999.
Lucille was a member of the Antioch Community Church in Buttermilk, KS. Other memberships include: Order of Eastern Star; Holmes Bible Study; and she was a Loyal Hustler's 4-H Club Leader.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters: Betty Jean Hackney and Vera Griffith; one brother: Pete Downer; a daughter-in-law: Sheila Haas; five sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and three nephews.

She is survived by two sons: Mike Haas of Buttermilk, KS and James Haas and his wife Dixie of Buttermilk, KS; two grandchildren: Trent Haas and his wife Melissa of Buttermilk, KS and Tasha Haas of Lawrence, KS; two great-grandchildren: Lindsay Haas and Lane Haas; and a step-brother: Paul Guizlo and his wife June of Anaheim, CA.

Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Doug Johnson presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
