Mable Marie DePriest, 75, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born July 13, 1943, on a farm northeast of Protection, KS, she was the daughter of Alva "Cap" and Opal (Huffman) Young.
Mable was nearly a lifetime resident of Protection, KS. She graduated from Protection High School in 1961. On September 22, 1963, she married Larry N. DePriest at Protection, KS. He survives.
Larry and Mable owned and operated L&M Grocery Store in Protection, KS for 42 years. She was a member of the Protection United Methodist Church; Mother's Advancement Club; Order of Eastern Star; and a charter member of Protection Golf Club.
She is survived by her husband: Larry DePriest of Protection, KS; one daughter: Kristal Sherman (Wade) of Coldwater, KS; one son: Scott DePriest (Patricia) of Wichita, KS; five grandchildren: Kaley Bogner (Matthew) of Newton, KS, Trevor Sherman (Calie) of Hays, KS, and Cole, Evan, and Alex DePriest of Wichita, KS; two great-grandchildren: Bella and Emma Bogner; one brother: Jim Young (Lena) of Lake Arrowhead, KS; two sisters: Kathy Turley (Jerry) of Garden City, KS and Sandy Moore of Dodge City, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Richard Young and Frank Young.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018,(Family Will Greet Friends from 5-6 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 2, 2018, at Protection United Methodist Church, Protection, KS, with Pastor Wayne Stephens presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
