Margaret Jo Patee

Margaret Jo (Frazier) Patee, 89, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026 at Beaver County Nursing Home in Beaver, OK. Born November 27, 1936, in Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Carlyle and Lucille (Fish) Frazier.

Margaret Jo grew up in Coldwater, KS and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1955. After graduation, she worked as a telephone operator in Pratt, KS. On October 13, 1956, she married Billy Keith Patee in Greensburg, KS. They lived in Greensburg, prior to moving to Elmwood, OK in 1961, and then to Beaver, OK, where she was an active member of the community for the rest of her life, serving as a Boy Scout Den Mother, Girl Scout Troop Leader, and Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, among many other things.

Her family was her greatest joy in life. She was a very involved stay-at-home mom, making sack lunches, sewing costumes, attending concerts and ballgames, and providing her children and grandchildren with love and support in everything they did. She was always proud of her Kansas roots and returned to visit friends and family every chance she could. She was content to have a normal, ordinary life, but she was a solid rock to her family and community. She often said, and it truly fits her time on this earth: “This was fun – I’m glad we did this.”

She is survived by one son: Billy Patee (Cherri) of Mustang, OK; two daughters: Kelie Grounds (Chris) of Beaver, OK and Cara McDonald (Mark) of Beaver, OK; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; a son-in-law: Larrie Knowles of Lawton, OK; a sister-in-law: Pat Frazier of Wichita, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband on December 5, 2009. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Dee Ann Knowles; one grandson: Landon Knowles; a son-in-law: Tracy Rutledge; one sister: Sue Schultz; and three brothers: Denton, Fred, and Don Frazier.

Funeral service is at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2026 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kids Korral: The Toby Keith Foundation, 818 NE 8th St., Oklahoma City, OK 73104.
