Marie Chandler

Marie Chandler, 82, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012, at the Protection Valley Manor in Protection, KS. Born August 18, 1929, at Neodesha, KS, she was the daughter of John L. and Edith A. (Crocker) Clark.
Marie was a resident of Protection, KS, moving there in 2004 from Chanute, KS, having lived in Chanute for much of her life. She attended Humboldt High School. She was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Chanute, KS, and the Protection United Methodist Church in Protection, KS. She enjoyed cooking and worked as a cook for many years. Marie had fun playing Bingo with her friends and also quilted as a member of the Cottage Grove Ladies' Aid Society in Chanute, KS.
On August 7, 1947, she married Harold E. Chandler at Iola, KS. He survives.
She is survived by her husband: Harold Chandler of Protection, KS; two daughters: Cindy Pence and her husband Bill of Lawrence, KS and Kathy Foust and her husband Joe of Coldwater, KS; two sisters: Dorothy Parker and her husband Harold of Independence, KS and Jean Brown of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren: Shawn Pence and his wife Susan of Pittsburg, KS, Jennifer Divoll and her fiancé John Schmeidler of Coldwater, KS, and Joshua Foust and his fiancé Brittny Briseno of Protection, KS; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother: Carl Clark; and one sister: Lucille Shrum.

Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 21, 2012, at the United Methodist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rick Jones and Bill Pence presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
