Mary Alice McKinney, 97, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, KS. Born September 6, 1922, on the family farm in rural Pawnee County, KS, she was the daughter of Edward and Olga (Unruh) Doll.
Mary Alice graduated from Zook High School in Zook, KS in 1940, received a degree from Hutchinson JUCO in 1943, and received a bachelor's degree in home economics from Kansas State University in 1945, where she was named to the Mortar Board Honor Society.
A long-time resident of the Coldwater, KS area, she was an active member of the Coldwater First Presbyterian Church from 1947-2011. Other memberships include: P.E.O. Sisterhood; Civic Club; Past School Board Member for U.S.D. #300; Kiowa County Hospital Auxiliary; and she was an active 4-H supporter.
On May 16, 1948, she married Harold McKinney at the First Presbyterian Church in Coldwater, KS. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2017.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Edwin and Robert Doll; and four sisters: Dorothy Williams, Erma Baird, Wilma Bailey, and Lois Doll.
She is survived by one daughter: Barbara McKinney (Wil Goering) of Madison, IN; three sons: Donald McKinney (Arviada) of Rose Hill, KS, Darryl McKinney (Lisa) of Moundridge, KS, and Dennis McKinney (Jean) of Greensburg, KS; ten grandchildren: Jacob Goering, Garel Blanchard, Andrew McKinney, Adam McKinney, Abigail McKinney, Daryl Bergen (Trevor), Randyl McKinney, Mikyl McKinney, Kelly McCarty (Travis) and Lindy Schultze (Eric); three great-grandchildren: Asher and Anistyn McCarty and Reata Schultze; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, September 15, 2019 (Family Will Greet Friends From 4-6 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Monday, September 16, 2019, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Rev. Hyunung Chang and Wil Goering presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Kiowa County Health Foundation or Comanche County 4-H Council in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
