Mary Ellen Riner
Mary Ellen Riner, 78, passed away Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born May 17, 1934 at Ashland, KS, the daughter of Mal "Bill" and Marjorie (Bonham) Eubank, she was a homemaker.
Mary Ellen was a lifetime resident of the Protection, KS area. She attended Bluff Creek Country School and graduated from Protection High School in 1952. She was an active member of the Protection Christian Church, teaching Sunday School and directing Vacation Bible School and Bible Club for many years. She was also a member of Protection Christian Church Missionary Group, a founding member of Mothers' Advancement Club, and a founding member of Protection Beautification Committee.
On October 1, 1955, she married Richard "Dick" Riner at Wichita, KS. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2006.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Kyle Riner; an infant son: Doyle Alan Riner; and a grandson: Jared Riner.
She is survived by two daughters: Kim Monroe and husband Cam of Jasper, TX and Debbie Brooks and husband Doug of Protection, KS; two sons: D.J. Riner and wife Lori of Tulsa, OK and Derek Riner and wife Angie of Lamar, CO; one daughter-in-law: Diana Riner of Coldwater, KS; two sisters: Charlotte Filson and husband Gary of Protection, KS and Gail Barnes and husband Ted of Pleasant Hill, MO; sixteen grandchildren: Trae Monroe and wife Melissa, Erin Shofner and husband Clark, Ashley Brooks, Kiley Brooks, Nathan Brooks, Taylor Brooks, Joshua Riner Ashby and wife Valerie, Joshua Pavlik and wife Tabitha, Jace Pavlik and wife Jesse, Justin Riner, Taylor Riner, Aveah Riner, Maddie Riner, Regan Riner, Jenna Riner, and Kylen Riner; thirteen great-grandchildren: Carson, Calvin, Ella, Sam, Will, Aiden, Conner, Mason, Carter, Claire, Milla, Hazel, and Drake; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 14, 2012 (Family Will Greet Friends From 5-7) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS. Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Friday, June 15, 2012, at the Protection Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Rusty Westerfield presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
