Milo Eugene Cook, son of Winton Alex and Cora Mae (Holler) Cook, passed away on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Milo was born on November 10, 1937, in Ashland, KS. He attended Ashland Schools and graduated from Ashland High School in 1955. After graduation, Milo enlisted in the Navy, becoming an Engineer 3rd Class. He received an Honorable Discharge on September 9, 1962.
Milo married Marjorie Faye Lacer on June 10, 1962 in Buffalo, OK. To this union was born 4 children: Pearl, Milo Jr., George, and Corina. The family settled in Protection, KS, where Milo was a service station employee. He had at one time also worked for the City Light Plant and had been a Volunteer Fireman. He would drop everything to anyone in need, and the community also felt that kindness. Many times, Milo would put his weekend on hold to fix a flat tire for someone in need. After his family, Milo's greatest love was fishing, a love he passed on to his children and grandchildren. Milo won 2 Master Angler Awards for the big fish he caught. He loved the arts: music, painting, drawing, and coloring. He loved to do word puzzles and sudoku to keep his mind sharp. But he loved being with his family more than anything, and adored all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a kind and good man. He always made sure that his family felt loved.
Milo is survived by: daughter Pearl and her husband Alan Ellis of Coldwater, KS; son Milo Jr. and his wife Joyce Cook of Protection, KS; son George and his wife Carmen Cook of Kansas City, MO; daughter Corina and her husband Fred Williams of Natoma, KS; 1 brother: Tom Cook of Wyoming; 2 brothers-in-law: Everett Jantzen of Oklahoma and Bill McDonald of Oklahoma; 1 sister-in-law: Mary Ehret Cook Holler of Protection, KS; 1 aunt: Beth Watson; 29 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Milo was preceded in death by his loving wife on September 13, 2016, just 10 months prior; his parents; 1 brother: Robert Cook; 2 sisters: Patricia McDonald and Edna Jantzen; and one sister-in-law: Olga Cook.
