Obituary

Myrtle Lucille "Lucy" (Gann) Nolan passed away September 13, 2025.  Born March 25, 1930 in Elkland, MO in a home overlooking the Niangua River, she was the daughter of A.J. and Iva (Pinkly) Gann.

Lucy attended Charity, MO and Buffalo, MO High School.  She was married in 1948 and divorced four years later.  To that marriage, a daughter was born, Diana.  She moved to Kansas City, MO in 1952, then to Coldwater, KS in 2016.

She went to work at Hallmark Cards Company in Kansas City, MO.  She worked for 10 years in Colorvere as an Offset Printing Press Operator, where she met the love of her life, John Nolan.  They married in 1962 and were married for 60 years at the time of his death.

Lucy was a member of North Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Dallas County, MO.

Lucy was a licensed Nursery of hybrid iris, hybrid lilies, creeping phlox, periwinkle, peonies, and mums.  She belonged to a flower garden club; The Missouri and Kansas Sheriff's Association; Heart of America Kennel Club of Kansas City, MO, where she helped her daughter show Pomeranians and make champions.

Lucy loved to work in the yard, garden, and flowers; watching hummingbirds; she liked to dream up new projects; sew; crochet; read health books; and cook.  She loved all animals and helped raise a few Samoyeds, Dachshunds, and Pomeranians with her daughter.

She is survived by her daughter: Diana Nolan Owens of Coldwater, KS and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband: John Nolan; her parents: A.J. & Iva Gann; her step-father: William Harper; her grandparents: G.W. & Sarah Pinkly and Francis & Jane Gann; her sister: Opal Faye Gann; and her son-in-law: Jerry Owens.

A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 16, 2025 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS with Jeff Blundell presiding.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Donor's Choice in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
