Norma Jean Starks, 84, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016, at the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg, KS. Born June 19, 1932, on a farm south of Wilmore, KS, she was the daughter of Clyde Norman and Ruth Mildred (Jordan) Denney.
Norma Jean graduated from Wilmore High School in Wilmore, KS. On December 23, 1950, she married Darl Ivan Starks at Wilmore, KS. He preceded her in death on February 8, 2009.
She was a lifetime resident of Belvidere, KS, and served as Assistant Postmaster and on the Election Board in Belvidere. She was a homemaker and was owner/operator of Starks Ceramics. Norma Jean was artistic and creative and enjoyed making projects, especially yard whirligigs, alongside her husband Darl.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son: Richard Starks; one brother: Larry Denney; and one sister: Pat Thomas.
She is survived by one daughter: Jeanine Thomas (Dale) of Belvidere, KS; one son: Randy Starks (Vicky) of Madison, SD; two sisters: Donna Kay Harper of Booker, TX and Linda Graybill (Johnnie) of Coffeyville, KS; one brother: Lanny Denney of Coldwater, KS; three grandchildren: Kenneth Saunstaire, Jennifer Fahrenbruch, and Brad Starks; sixteen great-grandchildren: Erica, Darian, Lucas, Dawson, Briauna, McKenzie, Esperanza, Modesta, Ivan, Parker, Colton, Chase, Cassidy, Braden, Jayci, and Hunter; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation with family present is from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, December 16, 2016, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Graveside Service is at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
