Obituary

Perry Russell White was born Friday, August 13, 1965 to Ronald and Patricia (Trummel) White in Greeley, Colorado. The middle child, he always prided himself on being a "Colorado Native". His Colorado years were limited to Greeley the first two years of his life and then later four years in Springfield, but he had a life-long love of the mountains that was the inspiration for many vacations through the years.

Perry's youngest years were spent alongside his older "seester" Sonya, and his younger brother David. His dad worked for many years as a co-op manager, meaning that they moved every few years, so Perry's childhood was spent in many different western and central Kansas towns. He graduated from Great Bend High School in 1984 where he had enjoyed singing with the Madrigals.

In Junior High, Perry dedicated his life to his Lord and Savior Jesus. He took his walk with Jesus seriously and had a lifelong preoccupation with knowing Him better, serving Him faithfully and being His hands and heart to those he was around. If you name one characteristic that embodied who Perry was, it is love. This was a result of the Holy Spirit's work in his life – Perry loved like Jesus loved. And that is why everyone who knew him loved him back. His life is a wonderful testimony to the love of Christ.

In 1985, Perry met Charity Davis at a Navigators meeting at the K-State student union. For Charity it was love at first sight, but Perry took a while to catch up! They were engaged in February of 1990 and married June 30, 1990. Throughout their marriage, each of them considered themselves "the lucky one".

Their union resulted in the birth of three children: Kenny John, Kylie Joy and Keller Joel. Perry loved being a father! He was intentional and worked hard at being the best father each of his children needed. Children were always drawn to Perry – they sensed his love, care and joy and responded to it with affection. He loved being with his kids and doing what they were doing. This meant teaching them to fish, going to countless Boy Scout meetings and campouts and even hitting the stage to sing, dance and act with Kylie and Keller in numerous productions at Trilogy Cultural Arts.

Perry was at every major life event, including each of their marriages. Kenny married Jennifer in 2015, Keller married Jacqui in 2017 – with Perry officiating! – and Kylie married Ju in 2021 in Thailand. He was delighted to become the grandfather of Ava Grace on Christmas Eve this past year. Watching Perry father his own children – and others' in Scouts and on stage – was a wonder to behold. It's just who he was!

After 30 years in Kansas City, Perry and Charity recently made their home in Coldwater, KS to be closer to Perry's parents. It was a blessing that his company, Finite Engineering, where he was the IT manager, allowed him to work from his home here making monthly visits to the office in Kansas City. He was a wonderful son and loved his parents fiercely. He enjoyed living in the community he had known all his life from holiday visits to his grandparents. He and Charity found a wonderful church family in First Baptist Church of Protection, where Perry helped with the sound team. He was involved in the Comanche County High School Youth group, where he continued his legacy of pouring into youth.

Perry passed away unexpectedly at home on January 19th, 2022. He had been suffering from kidney disease over the last several years and had tested positive for Covid on January 14th. While we are deeply saddened at his sudden parting, we know that he is safely home in His Father's arms, fully healed.

Memorial service is at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Protection First Baptist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Trever Ball presiding.
