Obituary

Phyllis Coleen Haltom, 88, of Sand Springs, OK, passed into the arms of her Savior on Tuesday, October 1, 2024.  Born on June 8, 1936, at Medford, OK, she was the daughter of Jack Cree and Goldie Sarah (Pitcher) Rickabaugh.

Phyllis attended school in Jefferson, OK, graduating from high school in 1954.  She received a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Music from Northwestern in Alva, OK and a Certificate to Teach Special Education from Fort Hays in Hays, KS.  She was a teacher for many years, teaching at schools in  Sun City, KS, Elkhart, KS, Coldwater, KS, and Medicine Lodge, KS during her career.  She also taught piano lessons for many years, which she enjoyed.  She also enjoyed helping her husband, Rex, on the ranch.

Phyllis gave her heart to the Lord at the age of eight and was a member of Assembly of God Church in Coldwater, KS and most recently Crossroads Bible Community Church in Mannford, OK.  She enjoyed studying the Bible, gardening, canning, reading, and playing the piano, but her favorite thing was spending time with her family.

On May 27, 1957, she married Rex LeRoy Haltom at Enid, OK.  He preceded her in death on May 18, 2020.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter: Patricia Ruth Baker; four brothers: Louis, Everett, Bueford, and Harold Jack Rickabaugh; and many other loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter: Rex Anne Norris (David) of Mannford, OK; five grandsons: Brent Norris (Chelsa) of Sedan, KS, David Norris (Caroline) of Mannford, OK, Nathan Baker (Chaning) of Cape Coral, FL, Barrett Norris (Lainee) of Owasso, OK, and Neil Baker of Marion, KS; eight great-grandchildren: Hailey Baum (Justin), Justus, Violet, Lily, Milo, Ingrid, & Addi Norris, and Zillah Baker; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation with Family Present will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at Assembly of God Church in Coldwater, KS with Pastor John Lewis and Pastor Jimmy Foreman presiding.

Graveside service will follow the funeral at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2024 at Soldier Creek Cemetery in Belvidere, KS.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Coldwater Assembly of God Church or Comanche County Hospital Capital Campaign in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
