Phyllis Jean Sherman, 90, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at the Hill Top House in Bucklin, KS.  Born August 23, 1932, at Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Ben and Edith (Parker) Schultz.

Phyllis was a lifetime resident of the Coldwater, KS area.  She attended Coy Country School and graduated as Valedictorian from Coldwater High School in 1950.  On April 16, 1950, she married Clinton D. Sherman at Coldwater, KS.  He preceded her in death on December 28, 1993.

Phyllis was a homemaker and helped operate Sherman Dairy for many years.  She also worked as an office manager for The Western Star and as a clerk at Duckwalls during her life.  She was a 70 year member of Order of Eastern Star, serving as Worthy Matron in Coldwater and as Grand Esther for the State of Kansas.  She was a long time Elder and very active member of the Coldwater First Presbyterian Church; and she was a member of the PEO Sisterhood.

She is survived by five children and eleven grandchildren: Mark Sherman (Becky) of Coldwater, KS and children Matt, Meghan, and Chelsey; Kent Sherman (Nyla) of Ulysses, KS and children Jared and Keri; Renee Kautzer of Hutchinson, KS and children Paige and Morgan; Wade Sherman (Kristal) of Coldwater, KS and children Kaley and Trevor; and Todd Sherman (Rhonda) of Collinsville, OK and children Deidre and Chris; other survivors include 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Brad Sherman; one grandson: Nathan Sherman; and one brother: Phillip Schultz.

Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS with Jeff Blundell presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
