Richard "Cookie" Stanley Koch
Richard "Cookie" Stanley Koch, 57, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at the South Wind Hospice House in Pratt, KS. Born June 29, 1956, in Shattuck, OK, he was the son of Paul and Mary (Ross) Koch.
Richard graduated from Shattuck High School in 1974 and attended Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, OK on a baseball scholarship. He was a long time resident of Protection, KS, moving there in 1985, previously living in Ashland, KS. On June 12, 1982, he married Denise Bergkamp in Fowler, KS. They were later divorced.
Richard worked as a pumper in the oilfield for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by one son: Jarrett Koch of Protection, KS; one daughter: Andrea Koch of Wichita, KS; a sister-in-law: Mrs. Everett Koch of Shattuck, OK; and a nephew: Michael Koch of Shattuck, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Everett Koch.
Memorial service is at 4:30 p.m., Sunday, September 1, 2013, at the Protection City Park in Protection, KS. (Please Bring A Lawn Chair)
