Robert Dean "Bob" Hackney, 90, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born July 24, 1926 at the family farm south of Wilmore, KS, son of William and Ollie (Deewall) Hackney, he was a farmer and rancher.
Bob was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. He attended New Eden Country School and graduated from Wilmore High School in Wilmore, KS in 1944. He was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church; 50-year member of Comanche Masonic Lodge #295; and he served on the Comanche County Farm Bureau Board.
On May 6, 1951, he married Jean Harris at Hazelton, KS. She preceded him in death on December 9, 1975. On September 11, 1976, he married Helen (Scheuermann) Carlisle at Buttermilk, KS. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2014.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, one step-son: Phillip Carlisle; and two sisters: Audra Pepperd and Norene Williams.
He is survived by two daughters: Beverly and Keith Malone of Coldwater, KS and Bobbi Hackney of Independence, KS; two sons: Lane Hackney of Wilmore, KS and Robert L. "Skip" and Jim Hackney of St. Louis Park, MN; one step-son: Clair and Susan Carlisle of Coldwater, KS; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 16, 2017, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 17, 2017, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS, with Pastor John Paul presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
