IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roberta Alice
Teter
February 23, 1923 – July 16, 2020
Roberta Alice Teter, 97, formerly of Protection, Kansas, died July 16, 2020 in King George, Virginia. She and her twin brother Robert were born February 23, 1923 in Wilmore, Kansas, to Ora and Blanche (Killillay) McCorkle. She was a graduate of Wilmore High School.
She was engaged to Gerald Teter of Protection when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps the next day and was sent to Buckley Field in Colorado for training. Her parents drove her and Gerald's mother to Denver to marry Gerald before he was shipped out to Europe. They were able to locate a Baptist minister in the phone book who told them that he could marry them that evening in the parsonage. They picked up Gerald at Buckley Field and searched for the parsonage. It was late when they finally arrived. They were pronounced husband and wife at midnight on August 8, 1942. Following the war, they settled in Protection.
She is survived by daughter Diana and husband Glen Moore of King George, VA; son Jerry and wife Linda of Dover, AR; son John and wife Debra of Layton, UT; Grandchildren Eric Larson and wife Denine of Ankeny, IA; Seth Larson of Lawrence, KS; Kevin Teter of Russellville, AR; Brian Teter of Dover, AR; Whitney and husband Sean Cunningham of Salt Lake City, UT; Ashley Teter of Salt Lake City, UT, Major Matthew Teter and wife Claire of Cameron, NC; Tiffany Schuler of Portland, OR; Tonya Moore of Portland, OR; Tacy Moore of King George, VA; Great-grandchildren Katelyn and Kyra Larson, Kirstyn Hoagland, Alec Schuler, Carmen Moore-Matheny, Adeea Teter, Colin and Ian Cunningham, Annie, Wesley, and Millie Teter.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020, at the Protection First Baptist Church, Protection, KS, with Rev. Rod Young presiding.
Any expressions of sympathy would be recommended to the First Baptist Church, PO Box 97, Protection KS 67127.
