Ronald "Ron" Delane Maris, 70, passed away Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born January 3, 1949 at Ashland, KS, he was the son of Raleigh Warren and Esther Irene (Rieff) Maris.

Ron was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. He graduated from Protection High School in 1967 and attended Pratt Community College and Fort Hays State University. On November 14, 1971, he married Talma Sherman at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS.

Ron worked as the Branch Manager for Protection Co-Op in Coldwater, KS for 46 years. He was a member of the Protection United Methodist Church in Protection, KS. Ron loved all outdoor activities including gardening, fishing, hunting, and camping. He was an avid sports fan, loved animals, and enjoyed woodworking.

He is survived by his wife: Talma Maris of Coldwater, KS; one daughter: Delana Irene Long and husband Nick of Wichita, KS; two grandchildren: Briggs Ronin Long and Finley Joy Long; one sister: Pat Winton and husband Don of Wichita, KS; his mother-in-law: Ellen Sherman of Coldwater, KS; two foreign exchange students/sons: Stefan Wallius and Par Lofbom both of Sweden; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister: Betty Kay; and one brother: Don Maris.

Funeral service is at 3:00 p.m., Friday, April 19, 2019 at the United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Kennedy Mukwindidza presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
