Ross Marlin Deewall
Ross Marlin Deewall, 69, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2011, at the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita, KS. Born July 5, 1942, at Ashland, KS, he was the son of Ralph and Irene (Sturgis) Deewall.
Ross was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. He attended Coldwater Grade School, graduated from Coldwater High School in 1960, and was a proud member of the undefeated 1959 C.H.S. football team. He attended Kansas State University and Fort Hays State University, playing football at both schools.
He was a lifetime member of the Antioch Community Church in Buttermilk, KS, and the Antioch Men's Bible Study Group. Other memberships include: American and Kansas Hereford Association; American and Kansas Livestock Association; Buttermilk Saddle Club; Buttermilk Baseball Team; and he was a member and leader for the Loyal Hustler's 4-H Club.
Ross was a rancher and farmer. He also worked for Darrol Miller Farms, Haviland Co-Op, and Comanche County Road and Bridge Department during his life.
On June 5, 1966, he married Barbara Reese at Logan, KS. She survives.
He is survived by his wife: Barbara Deewall of Coldwater, KS; one daughter: Natalie Boone and her husband Ben of Quinter, KS; two sons: Travis Deewall and his wife Wendy of Augusta, KS, and Reese Deewall and his wife Michele of Beaverton, OR; one brother: Morris Deewall and his wife Linda of Godfrey, IL; two sisters: Rochelle Stith and her husband Bob of Wichita, KS, and Marlene Frazier and her husband Darrell of Coldwater, KS; six grandchildren: Dylan and Jaden Boone, Adam and Bryce Deewall, and Kinley and Elyse Deewall; several aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2011, at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Doug Johnson and Pastors Jack and Suzie Woods presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS. Family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
