Roy E. Purcell, 87 of Salina, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016. He was born June 12, 1928 to Geneva (Fleming) Purcell and Ben Purcell in Coldwater, Kansas.

In 1949, he married Mary Anna Crowe, and they were married for 66 years. He was retired from the Kansas Department of Transportation in 1992. His hobbies included woodworking and silversmithing, keeping his hands and mind active. His greatest joy was creating gifts of artistic beauty for friends and loved ones. He was a Veteran of WWII and devoted many hours to community service.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Anna; two daughters, Saryl (Tom) Johnson and Joni (Kirk) Stricker; six grandchildren, Addie (Kal) Abushousheh, Katie Johnson, Micah Copeland, Kindl Shaw, Ben Stricker, and Tim Stricker; four great-granddaughters, Kairi, Camille, and Simone Copeland, and Adelynn Stricker.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1st from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Hatfield- Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Coldwater, Kansas. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas.
