Obituary

Sherrie Lynn Smith, 57, went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Via Christi St. Francis in Wichita, KS. Born June 5, 1960, at Denver, CO, the daughter of James Henry Schierenbeck and Mary Kay Minor, she was a homemaker.

Sherrie attended Adams City High School in Commerce City, CO and graduated from Mapleton High School in Denver, CO.  She was a long-time resident of California, where she was a member of EnAgape Christian Fellowship. She was a current resident of Protection, KS, moving there in 2009. Sherrie appreciated all types of music, loved to write, and will be remembered for her poetry.

On September 30, 1989, she married Lyle Smith in Las Vegas, NV. He survives.

In addition to her husband Lyle of Protection, KS, she is survived by her mother: Mary Kay Minor of Thornton, CO; five daughters: Faye Loera (Juan) of Gillette, WY, Winter Jackson (Doug) of Protection, KS, Lydia Melder (Anthony) of Haviland, KS, Amber Smith (Mike) Springfield, CO, and Georgia Smith of Springfield, CO; siblings: M. Lisa Bommersbach (Keith) of Fairfield, CA, Stephanie Miner (Robert) of North Dakota, John Sedillo (Kelly) of Denver, CO, Ginnette Petras (Steve) of Mt. Hermon, CA, Bill Schierenbeck of Watsonville, CA, and Todd Schierenbeck of Felton, CA; five grandchildren: Jessie Loera, Leticia "Tisha" Loera, Alex Loera, Landon Rodgers, and Logan Rodgers; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and step-mother: James and Beverly Schierenbeck; her grandparents: George K. and Mary E. Minor; and a sister: Cindy Schierenbeck.

Calling times are from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 18, 2018 (Family Will Greet Friends From 5-7 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral Service is at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 19, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Protection, KS, with Pastor Trever Ball presiding. Burial will follow the funeral service at Protection Cemetery in Protection, KS.
