Steve J. Prusa

Steven Joseph Prusa, 66, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2017, at Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born January 28, 1951, at Hoisington, KS, he was the son of Alphonse Daniel and Lorena Magdalene (Mater) Prusa.
Steve was a long-time resident of Coldwater, KS, where he owned and operated Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home and Hatfield Furniture for many years. He graduated from Claflin High School in Claflin, KS in 1969, received a bachelor's degree from Fort Hays State University in 1973, and graduated from San Francisco School of Mortuary Science in 1975. He was a founding member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Coldwater; served on the Board of Directors of Peoples Bank; and was a member of K.F.D.A. and N.F.D.A.
On June 2, 1973, he married Lou Ann Hatfield at Dubuque, KS. She survives.

He is survived by his wife: Lou Ann Prusa of Coldwater, KS; one son: Steve J. Prusa, Jr. (Aj) of Coldwater, KS; one daughter: Lori Beth Kirk (Tyler) of Bucklin, KS; six grandchildren: Skylar, J.T., and Kellen Prusa and Maci, Lucas, and Cami Kirk; two brothers: Anthony Prusa (Devalyn) of Liberal, KS and Kenny Prusa (Dorothy) of Gilbert, Iowa; one sister: Cathy Kooser (Ron) of Cleveland, MO; brother-in-law: Larry Hatfield (Ali) of Wichita, KS; sister-in-law: Gay Lyn Unruh (Roger) of Wilmore, KS; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Al and Lorena Prusa; and his father and mother-in-law: Charles and Beth Hatfield.

Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, October 19, 2017, (Family Will Greet Friends from 4:30-6:30), followed by a Vigil Mass and Rosary at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home in Coldwater, KS.

Funeral service is at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2017, at First Christian Church in Coldwater, KS, with Rev. Kent Little and Father Kola Prakash presiding. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
