Tacey Elaine (Young) Teel

Tacey Elaine (Young) Teel passed away at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan, KS, on February 20, 2026. She was 68 years old.

Tacey was born on February 5, 1958 at Holloman Air Force Base, New Mexico, to Francis L. Young and Inez K. Young, twin girls. When the girls were toddlers, the family moved to Hugoton, KS for Frank’s Crop-Dusting Adventure Job. Tacey attended Hugoton Grade School, Middle School, and was a member of the Hugoton Graduating Class of 76.

On July 29, 1976, Tacey married Ronald Mike Teel in Hugoton, KS. Tacey worked as a bank teller at Hugoton Citizen Bank for many years. She and Mike also welcomed two wonderful children, Justin Ryan Teel and Kerry Elaine Teel. Mike and Tacey were married for 11 years, sadly Mike and her got divorced and her and her children moved to Manhattan in August of 1989.

Tacey enrolled at K-State University in Manhattan, to be a Speech Pathologist. She graduated from K-State in 1999, with a bachelor’s degree. She landed a job as a Paraeducator with the USD 383 School District at the beginning of the school year in August of 1999. She worked for Susan B. Anthony Middle School for 25 years. She loved that job, being there for her students and her other co-workers. Tacey sadly had to retire for medical reasons in September of 2024. Tacey loved and enjoyed living in Manhattan, being with her children, and grandchildren, and also loved traveling and antiques.

Tacey was preceded in death by both of her parents: Frank Young in September 2017 and Inez Young in December 2012; and her ex-husband: Mike Teel in July 1987.

Tacey is survived by her twin sister: Teresa (Young) Rector and her husband Jack Rector of Amarillo, TX; her son: Justin and his wife Lori Teel of Manhattan, KS; her daughter: Kerry Teel of Manhattan, KS; and her grandchildren: Tristan and Kylee Teel of Manhattan, KS.

The Family will have a funeral service for Tacey in Coldwater, KS at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, 206 N Philadelphia Ave., Coldwater, KS 67029, at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026, followed by a committal service at her final resting place at Protection Cemetery, Protection, KS 67127, with Pastor Tom Walters presiding.

The Family will be also having a Celebration of Life in Manhattan, KS at The First Christian Church, 3001 Grand Mere Pkwy, Manhattan KS, 66503, on March 7 at 1:00 p.m., for all the individuals who cannot make the funeral services in Coldwater, KS.

Tacey always said “Life was a journey”.
