Thomas Pierce

Thomas Pierce passed away August 2, 2015, one day shy of his 86th birthday. Tom was born to A. R. and Agnes Pierce on August 3, 1929 in Carmen, OK. While attending college at Northwestern State in Alva, OK, he met his future bride, Marilyn Miller of Coldwater, KS. They were married February 15, 1953 at the Antioch Methodist Church in Buttermilk, KS.
They resided at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, while Tom served in the U.S. Army. After his service, they moved to Coldwater, where their first child was born. They moved to Oklahoma City, OK, where Tom received a BS in Engineering from Oklahoma City University. They lived 17 years in Oklahoma City and had three more children while living there.
They were active in RSES and enjoyed square dancing. He taught evenings at OCU for several years. Tom was a coach for little league baseball and football.
He had a lifetime career in the heating and air conditioning field. His work took him to Texas for a few years, and then to San Jose, CA. Tom and Marilyn resided in San Jose for 28 years, then they moved to Colorado, and finally back to Coldwater in 2010. His wife, Marilyn, passed away August 26, 2011. He remained in Coldwater, where he had relatives and had made many friends.

Tom and Marilyn are survived by their children: Steve (Nancy) of Portland, OR, Linda (Tom St. Denis) of Fort Collins, CO, Gary (Laura) and Dan (Mary) of San Jose, CA. There are also seven grandchildren and three great-granddaughters: Audrey St. Denis, Amy (Matthew) Simpson, Caroline Pierce, Christa Pierce, Brian Pierce, Andrew St. Denis, Samuel Pierce, and Leah, Lillian, and Lyla Simpson. Also surviving Tom is his sister: Charlotte Lauric; his brother-in-law: Darrol Miller; four nieces, one nephew, several cousins, and their families.

He was preceded in death by his wife: Marilyn; his brother: Jerry Pierce; his sister-in-law: Pauline Miller; his brother-in-law: William Lauric; and his sister-in-law: Belinda Pierce.

The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 11, 2015, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.

Funeral mass is at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS. Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
