Velma Faye Basnett

Velma Faye Basnett, 91, passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Pioneer Lodge in Coldwater, KS.  Born December 16, 1934, on a farm north of Sun City, KS, she was the daughter of Edward and Mildred (Bodenhamer) Hart.

On May 20, 1951, she married Robert L. Basnett at Wichita, KS.  He preceded her in death on December 18, 1995.  To this union were born a daughter: Rita Jeanette; and a son: Robert Edward.

She is survived by her daughter: Rita French (John) of Derby, KS, with daughter: Courtney Davis (Paul) and children: Cael Asmann, Lauren Davis, and Brook Davis of Derby, KS; Her son: Rob Basnett (Linda) of Coldwater, KS, with daughter: Lindsay Rockenback (Brandon) and son: Rylan of Preston, KS; a sister-in-law: Linda Hart; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Kent Hart and Jim Hart (Pat).

Service is at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, December 20, 2025, at Coldwater United Methodist Church in Coldwater, KS, with Jeff Blundell presiding.
