IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Viola "Vi"
Mae (Pettay) Blake
November 12, 1936 – June 24, 2025
Viola "Vi" Mae (Pettay) Blake was born November 12, 1936 in Kiowa, KS to Carl C. and Annie A, (Sneary) Pettay. She passed at home with family on June 24, 2025.
Vi grew up and graduated in Kiowa. After graduation, she moved to Coldwater, KS and this is where she met Ivan R. Blake, her husband of 38 years before his passing in 1998. To this union three children were born: Tim, Mike, and Evelyn.
Vi worked different jobs, but her most memorable was working alongside her husband on the Smith Ranch. She loved playing board games (and winning), Coca-Cola, watching NFL football, westerns, working puzzle books, and spoiling her many pets over the years.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother: Jim Pettay.
She is survived by her children: Tim Blake, Mike Blake, and Evelyn (Dave) Parks; two granddaughters: Shie (Levi) Herriage and Blake (Isaac) Sanderson; great-grandchildren: Jack Herriage, Henry Sanderson, Ainsley Herriage, and Lynnley Sanderson; one sister: Betty Chance; and other relatives and friends along with her two grand dogs who will miss her daily presence immensely.
The family is deeply grateful to Traditions Hospice for their support and kindness during Mom's final days.
Graveside Service is at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 28, 2025 at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS, with Minister Isaac Sanderson presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the donor's choice in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
