Virginia Beryle White, 99, passed away Friday, October 4, 2019, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born April 15, 1920 on a farm north of Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of Thornton and Alta (Spencer) Cary.
Virginia was a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS. She attended Pleasant Ridge and New Home Country Schools, graduated from Coldwater High School in 1938, and attended Manhattan Bible College and Fort Hays State University. She was a member of the Coldwater First Christian Church and the Civic Club.
On July 1, 1945, she married Vernie White at the family farm in Comanche County. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2003. On October 31, 2004, she married Joe Spence in Kiowa, KS. He preceded her in death on October 23, 2014.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and sisters-in-law: David & Theo Cary and Harland & Frances Cary; an infant sister: Elizabeth Cary; and a foster sister: Hazel Thompson Crouse.
She is survived by two daughters: Vickie Widener (Randel) of Lincoln, NM and Vanita Blundell (Jim) of Wilmore, KS; one son: Virgil White (Karen) of Coldwater, KS; a sister-in-law: Esther White of Haviland, KS; eight grandchildren: Sheila Martin (John), Michael Widener, Casey Guardiola (Manny), Wendy Crotts (Jason), Ryan White (Kellie), Pamela Squires, Jennifer Mugnier (Giz), and Jeff Blundell (Chelsea); and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 11, 2019 (Family Will Greet Friends From 5-7 p.m.), at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2019, at the First Christian Church, Coldwater, KS, with Virgil White, Randel Widener, and Jeff Blundell presiding.
Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Coldwater First Christian Church in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, P.O. Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
