Walter Gene Myers, 88, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2017 in Monett, MO. Born May 27, 1929 in Coldwater, KS, he was the son of Harmon and Ruth (Shelley) Myers.

Gene was nearly a lifetime resident of Comanche County, KS, recently moving in 2016 to Sarcoxie, MO to be near family. He attended Coldwater High School and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the U.S. Army for 2 years. During his life, Gene worked in the oilfield and was a farmer.

Survivors include: one daughter: Jeanie Osborn and her husband Steve of Pierce City, MO; three sons: Ronnie Myers and his wife Dixie of Sarcoxie, MO, Alan Myers and his wife Brenda of Greensburg, KS, and Wally Myers and his fiancé Sheila Grayson of Goddard, KS; one sister: Joan Wisecarver of Bellevue, WA; his ex-wife: Marcy Myers of Monett, MO; seven grandchildren: Tim Myers, Joe Osborn, Michael Osborn, Jeffery Myers, Natalie (Myers) Witte, Jonathan Myers, and Natasha (Myers) Zielke; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, and an infant brother.

Funeral service is at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 5, 2017, at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS, with Pastor Juan Espinoza presiding.

Burial will follow the funeral service at Crown Hill Cemetery in Coldwater, KS.
