Raymond Wayne Woolfolk, 84, passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016, at the Ashland Health Center in Ashland, KS. Born May 8, 1932, on a farm nine miles south of Protection, KS, the son of Glen and Bernice (Lindsay) Woolfolk, he was a rancher and farmer.
Wayne was a lifetime resident of the Protection, KS area. He attended Pleasant Valley Country School and graduated from Protection High School in 1950. He attended the University of Kansas for four years and played on the KU Football Team.
On June 9, 1951, he married Marlene Edmonston at Protection, KS. She survives.
He served as a Comanche County Commissioner for twelve years. Memberships include: Protection Christian Church; Bit and Spur Club; and Kansas Livestock Association. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Wayne was an active supporter of his children and grandchildren and traveled many miles with his wife, Marlene, to attend their activities and ball games.
Wayne is survived by his wife: Marlene Woolfolk of Protection, KS; his four children: Kathy Willems (Brian) of Protection, KS, Kent Woolfolk (Stephanie) of Protection, KS, Kirk Woolfolk (Renee) of Arnold, MD, and Karolyn Webb (Brad) of High Point, NC; one brother: Skip Woolfolk (LaVeda) of Woodward, OK; one sister: Neoma Shrauner (Ralph) of Edmond, OK; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson: Jason Dru Willems.
Calling times are from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 2, 2016 (Family Will Greet Friends From 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.) at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, KS.
Service is at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2016, at the Protection Christian Church in Protection, KS, with Rod Rieger presiding. Burial is in the Protection Cemetery, Protection, KS.
